Sweet Tooth

Published by mrscrumley at 6:39 am under a day in the life

I had to go to the dentist yesterday for my six month cleaning. When the hygenist had me in the chair, she asked me if there was anything going on and I decided to fess up.

When I eat sweets (not all sweets, but a lot of them) my mouth, on the lower left side, really, really hurts. I quickly explained to her that I don’t eat sweets a lot because my husband doesn’t really like them so we just don’t have them in the house. But, with the recent chocolate invasion from Easter, the pain has come back.

Last December I had a crown put on in the area that hurts, so she inspected that as the possible culprit. She was already taking bite wing xrays of my teeth, so she took an extra xray of the root of that tooth to see if I needed a root canal.

When she said “Root Canal” my heart stopped and I guess I had a look of panic on my face because she quickly said, “Not that you need one, it is just a precaution.” She kept telling me that I probably won’t need one because Dr. O would have seen some damage when he was doing the crown. The one thought that kept racing through my mind was that I never should have said anything.

The end result was that I don’t need a root canal. Instead, I have to get a filling fixed, so that there is contact from the tooth next to the crown because currently there is none. I don’t know how that is supposed to help my sweet tooth, but I have an appointment April 12th.

Stupid chocolate.
