3 rings and lots of fun
We took Fuller to the Circus last night.
Now I know what you are thinking. You are thinking, ?Why take him somewhere so big when he isn?t going to remember the experience??
Well, I have news for you. He isn?t the one that wanted to go. I was. Well, D and I both wanted to go. And our friends, Esther & Greg.
And you know what? It doesn?t matter that Fuller won?t remember the experience. The way I see it, D and I got something for our parenting stack of cards. When a time comes that Fuller wants to go to the circus and something happens where we can?t take him, we can always reach into our cards and pull out the ?We already took you to the circus once- when you were seven months old. Too bad you don?t remember. That isn?t our fault!? card.
Hee. Fuller is going to love living in our house. I hope he learns to roll his eyes soon.
Anyway, the circus was fun. Fuller loved looking at all the lights.
He didn’t really register that there were amazing animals, doing amazing tricks (except the lions, they were boring), and he didn’t realize that there were really bendy people twisting and flipping and hanging upside down. His heart didn’t race when the man in the giant hamster wheel looked like he was about to fall and he didn’t question if the person directing the horses was really a man looking like a woman.
Another really nice thing about taking a seven month old to the circus, as opposed to taking a 5 year old, is that they don’t realize that there are things to blow money on all around you. $8 for a snowcone! Now, granted, we did get a really fun mug that the ice was packed in, but still… $8. 6 bucks for popcorn. 15 dollars for the light up thingy that made noise… really.
The noise never bothered Fuller and when he decided to fall asleep, he did it in my arms, after a bit of serious fussing, but once he was asleep, he was asleep. He slept all the way back to the car after the Greatest Show on Earth (which isn’t really a great name) was over.
Yup, it was a night he will remember.
Side note: Congratulations to Esther & Greg who found out they are having a boy! (The number of boys that Fuller is going to get to beat up later in life is growing. How fun!) And how wonderful is it that the first time that Esther felt the baby move was at the circus. I think it was the music.
