Routine

Published by at 10:53 am under blogging 'bout the boy

Our routine has changed in recent weeks, releiving some of our unnoticed stress. I now work at to the office in the mornings, while Damon is at home working and watching Fuller. I go home at lunch, watch Fuller and get work done. Damon heads into the office to complete his work day.

This arrangement has greatly reduced the stress of Damon and his client meetings, now scheduled in the afternoons where they don’t have to end at a specific time because I have to drop off the baby. He can now work into the evening, if necessary, and not worry about the disctractions of a wife, baby, and two dogs.

Now I feel like I have more interaction with Fuller, allowing me to drop some of my guilt of being a working mother with stay at home dreams. Now, when 4:30 arrives I just leave my computer chair, drop to the floor, and tickle Fuller to make him giggle.

They say babies crave routine, and while I think it is true, I think in our case, the parents are craving the routine more. Fuller is such an easy going baby, happy to get in the car and experience new surroundings or just as happy to play in the living room feeling the texture of the rug or practicing his crawling technique. As long as he gets a couple of naps, is fed a decent amount, and gets some cuddle time, he is pretty happy.

And a happy baby is a great routine for me.
