Happy Birthday Austina!
So, 26 years ago today, I became a big sister. You know what? It isn’t too bad. She’s kind of cool. And she likes me- a lot. She loves me even more since she became the cool aunt.
Anyway, I don’t have any memories of the day Austina was born and I don’t really remember what she was like as a little kid. I remember thinking, when I was much, much younger, that she was trying to be like me and I didn’t like that. But when I look back, I don’t think she was trying to be like me, I think she was trying to be herself and we just went through a lot of the same stuff. Goodness knows, we didn’t turn out very much like each other anyway. Which is fine, because she is still a great sister and a great friend. (And if she ever moves back here, she will be a great babysitter!)

Nice glasses Alicia!
Don’t tell me, let me guess. That was taken at Easter, right? If those aren’t Easter dresses, I’ll eat my curved-top arbor/entry. (I know just where to get one now
You’re a cute bunch o’ girls (a “plague of daughters,” as my father would say).

They are Easter dresses, but it wasn’t Easter! It was the night my dad came home from the Gulf War. I was a freshman in high school- 1991. And the tall girl in the back was my best friend from that time period. She was kind of like a big sister to me and I was like a little sister to her (she was an only child).
I knew it. Easter dresses just have… well.. “easter dresses” written all over them. And the shoes? Don’t even need to see ‘em. Patent leather Mary Janes. Well, for your little sisters. Yours might have been white or pink patent leather ballet flats. (You look to be at the Mary Jane/ballet flat crossover age in that photo.)
This is the one thing having daughters has all over having sons. Easter dresses. And Mary Janes. Timeless, man… I’m tellin’ ya. (Oh, darn. I’m getting all nostalgic and soppy again. I’m leaving. No need to call Security.)

You know, you, Alicia look very different, as does Sarah-Ginny. Austina, on the other hand, looks like Austina with long hair.
