Shh…. the babies are sleeping

Published by at 7:29 pm under a day in the life

I came home from work around noon. Fuller was still napping and Damon was also resting his eyes, so I sat down at the computer with a mind to start my at-home office hours.

And then I heard a very weak, “Alli?”

Damon is sick. He has a fever of 100.5, his joints are achy, he is alternating between the chills and being hot, and his skin hurts. He slept most of the afternoon with a few breaks to ask me for a cold washcloth, a bowl of ice (to place the washcloth in and make it colder), some water, some Gatorade, and a popsicle. He also likes it when I rub his eye sockets and his back.

I blame it on the fact that when we took Fuller to the pediatrician yesterday, we had to wait in the sick area. Damon probably picked it up there.

Ok, it’s a stretch, but one I choose to believe.

Fuller is still doing really well. His rash is pretty much gone, though there is still some swollen welts on his back and legs. He isn’t fussy except when there are normal times to be fussy- time to eat and time to sleep.

And right now, they are both asleep. Damon had the extra assistance of the Nyquil and Fuller was just exhausted from the business of playing so well. And now, I can finally get some work done.

Yea, I like that the Dr. office have a sick and well baby area though, I hate it when we have to sit in the sick area. Everything seems so germy. What annoys me most is that when your child is well you have to walk over to the window by the sick area to sign in. I always try to remember to bring my own pen, but I usually forget.
