I scream

ben_jerrys.jpg Today our little family unit headed downtown for a little free ice cream action. It was actually my second trip to the Ben & Jerry’s today since I had my free ice cream with some co-workers. I didn’t ask for a second helping when we took Fuller, I just knew that some of his chocolate ice cream would also be my chocolate ice cream.

After the ice cream goodness and a good swipe of Fuller’s mouth with a napkin, we walked downtown exploring the Passage and letting Fuller stretch his legs around the amphitheater seating.

When we were walking back to the car we were remarking on what a great evening it had been and what a neat city we had settled down in.

You know what?

We are right.

When I graduated from Covenant eight years ago I decided to stay in Chattanooga mainly because I wanted to hang out with Damon and see where this “relationship” was going.

But as our relationship changed from dating to engaged to married to parents… well, we have watched Chattanooga change as well. Downtown is bustling with amazing activities, beautiful scenery, and change all for the better. I was excited to take Fuller to opening of the new aquarium expansion. I love the fact that I can take my son to a museum that is just for him to explore and learn in. And if I have the extra income, I enjoy eating at many of the fine eateries that are opening up in the atmosphere of a beautiful river and downtown architecture.

Growing up in a family that moved a lot I never decided to really claim a hometown. Anytime someone asked me where I was from the answer was usually “the military” and a long explanation followed with all the places that I have lived.

I have now lived the longest period of time here in Chattanooga. When people ask me where I am from I am so happy and so proud to say “Chattanooga” and I am glad that I will be saying it for many more years.
