Bed rail?

Published by mrscrumley at 12:55 pm under if I'm asking, it's not unsolicited

We moved Fuller to a toddler bed last night. The crib is going away this weekend.

My question is this:
Do we need a bed rail? He didn’t fall off the bed last night and never did the first time we experimented with the “big boy bed” concept. What do you think?

We used them, but we always skipped the toddler bed and went straight to a twin bed. I’d rather be safe than sorry.

Well, technically the bed he slept in is a twin bed, but it is the ikea chair bed and we need it as a chair most of the time. So, on Tuesday Aunt Stina will be bringing a German kid’s bed from my parents, and it is a toddler size bed (takes a crib mattress), which will save us space. The ikea bed is so low to the ground, that I don’t think he will hurt himself if he fell. I’m not sure about the hieght of the German bed.

Hi, love your blog! We used a toddler bed first and needed to bed rail. He is 2.5 and in a real twin bed and I bought the Parents Choice bed rail/net but honestly don’t need it. He actually just sleeps right in the middle of the bed every night. Good luck!

I never used them, we put her in her big girl bed the week or so before she turned 3.

We went straight from the crib to the twin bed, too, and used a bed rail with the bed pushed against the wall. Both of our kids are rotators, so there was no question about it. Also, Isabel still refuses to get under the covers (so she’s not limited by the sheets). She sleeps with a small blanket instead.

If the toddler bed is low, then it might not be a bad thing to go rail-less…as maybe he’ll learn quicker how to sleep in an open bed?
