It is the last day of the year 2006 and I say good.
There has been a lot of non-bloggable stuff in our lives and it just made for a very cranky Alli and a uncomfortable home life.
The good news is that there are more days ahead, a new year is beginning, and we are working (working hard) to move on and up. Better relationships, better arrangements, and maybe the actualizations of some goals and dreams.

Dear Exxon Marketing,
If there is an Exxon at a certain exit in Kentucky, an exit that is full of other gas stations and many fast food restaurants, then you should shell out whatever bucks are required to get your sign on blue signs alerting motorists what is coming up at the next exit.
When a motorist is looking specifically for Exxons and wants to stop to eat, it is very disappointing to drive by an exit and see an Exxon to the immediate right of the exit ramp. That motorist would have stopped at that exit, been able to gas up, eat breakfast, and let her little boy run around the McDonald’s playland (who cares if it was 28 degrees?) for a little while.
Instead, the motorist was forced to drive two more hours until an Exxon was found.
Exxon, get your advertising act together.
Sincerely,
The motorist who was pissed that she could have gotten off at a perfectly good exit and had to drive two hours until a not so great exit could be found. She didn’t get any coffee until 10:30 am! Will there be compensation?

Well, after a short nap I am about to load the car and we should be off in the next hour to hour and half. (If you are my dad or sister or mom and reading this, give us a call around 8 to check where we are.)
I had to print off a few things before leaving, so I thought I would stop in and just leave a quick “See ya’ll in Ohio!” We will be with my parents, sisters and brother-in-law, my grandma and great aunt. There is a rumor that a cousin and his finace will be visiting, but it has not been confirmed by reliable sources.
We are having a second Christmas with my family, complete with stockings, presents, and holiday feast. I begged my mom for eggnog, since that was lacking in the Alabama Christmas. (Not that I really need the eggnog, it just seemed so strange not to have it around.)
I didn’t have time to update the DFF, so I will do that when I get to Ohio. Promise.
Off to load the car.

Speaking of cameras, almost losing pictures, and the Daily Fuller Fix… which I know I need to update… I’ve been digging around digital photography sites a bit more recently. Maybe because I have some extra time with the holidays and extra people to watch Fuller, I’ve been able to actually poke around and read more.
It’s a bit overwhelming, all the information, but I want to be better at taking photos and maybe taking a jump and submitting them somewhere for something.
One site, PhotographyCorner.com, is a site that I can get into. They have forums, tips, and galleries! I can share my pictures! On top of that there is the PhotographyCorner.com 2006 Photograph of the Year Contest.
Now, I am not confident enough to actually submit something today, but hey, you can. The community of the Corner gets to vote (I’m a member of the community now!) on who wins, and there are 10 prizes that value $1400 and sponsored by folks like Bibble Labs, and istockphoto.
The rules are here. Read them carefully. (I like to read that kind of stuff.) And then submit a pic! How fun is that?
Maybe I will submit something. I’ll let you know. Do you have a favorite DFF from the past year?

My supervisor let me leave work early today which was awesome.
Now I am ignoring the stuff that I have to do.
I have to pack (my clothes, Fuller’s clothes, and toiletries).
I have to wrap presents (awesome presents).
I have to gather all the electronics that we require when we travel (camera, laptop, camcorder, all the extra cords…)
I have to gather food for the cooler and other stuff… lots of stuff.
Fuller is in bed now, dressed in what he will wear when we put him in the car at 4 am.
Yes, I said 4 am.
I think I need to get going.

I mentioned a while back that I was hoping to be picked as a Postie to win an HP camera so I can give it to my mom. (Hint, hint Ted! She will be alone for 6 months! While her husband is serving our country! She needs a camera!)
Ahem.
Well, PPP is really excited about their partnership with HP and to prove it, they spread the HP love by organizing a Chicago based Postie Patrol sponsored by HP.
First, I want to point out that a while back, HP had an ad campaign that featured a Kinks song, “Picture Book.” I was inspired by that song for the URL of our Daily Fuller Fix.
Second, we got an HP Digital Photo Printing system for Christmas! (Ted: that does not let you off the hook for making me a winner and giving me the HP gear.)

Well, Damon is my hero. He took the laptop to the Geek Squad, they gave him some advice and he took it home and got it all working again, inlcuding making sure the Christmas pictures are here. I have been setting things up again and it looks like we are in business.
Not quite the dramatic story you were hoping for? Sorry. It is still a happy ending.

Recently we watched Over the Hedge, a movie given to Fuller for Christmas. It was a very funny movie and I don’t think I have seen Damon laugh that hard in a long time. What impressed me was the star studded cast (Steve Correll, William Shatner, Wanda Skyes, Eugene Levy, Allison Janey, and Bruce Willis). There was even some pretty decent animation, but the writing was really awesome. Overall, I give it an A plus.

In a little while I plan on visiting my friend Esther in hospital. She didn’t get to go home on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, but it turns out this is for the best. She will be in the hospital until Baby Benjamin is born.
I am sure that this is a very scary time for Esther and her family. She is sad that Luke is going with his grandparents and a tad bored with the whole bed rest thing, but every time I talk to her she seems in good spirits and says all is well with her and Benjamin. (I really want to call him Benji but Esther says no.)

This is one of my favorite pictures from this weekend. I wish I had used the flash to make it a bit sharper, but oh well. Click the picture to read the description.
We also got her a “Welcome to Chattavegas” shirt from the Canvas Canoe, but this CD really made her night.
