Bring Spring
Christmas is over and I didn’t have a white Christmas. Of course, this year I get a second chance because we are having a second Christmas in Ohio on Friday. It sure seems cold enough here in Chattanooga, I wonder if it is cold enough to bring us snow in Ohio? Then I could have a white Christmas.
(The last time we were in Ohio for the holidays we were snowed in during a blizzard. It was so much fun!)
I’m a bit funny about the winter. I don’t mind it at first, I think it is appropriate for Christmas, since there is that chance of a white Christmas. (Hey, it snowed in Las Vegas, can’t it snow in Southern Alabama?)
I think winter is ok, but as soon as the holidays are over, I’m ready for spring. I want to ditch the sweaters and turtlenecks, hide the heavy socks, and find my twin sets and sandals.
Spring brings the SEC basketball tournament, the flowers on the phlox, and more opportunities to be outside.
Some might get excited because baseball season starts to gear up. Isn’t spring synonymous with baseball?
When we lived in Arizona I learned to play tennis (a good spring sport too!). I would take lessons at Hohokam Park. The tennis courts were in the shade of the baseball stadium where the Chicago Cubs had their spring training. I always wondered if I would see any of the players. Not that I would recognize any of them.
One spring my dad somehow got Spring training tickets to the Chicago Cubs. I think they were playing the Cincinnati Reds (they won the World Series the year I was born). Daddy took me and a friend (I think Eileen, but it could have been Stephanie) and we had a blast. I don’t exactly remember where our seats were (I was 10 or 11 at the time), but I remember we were under the roof, kind of high up.
Baseball isn’t really a favorite sport of ours, but it was a fun thing to get to do- see the Chicago Cubs play a game during Spring training. And it is a great memory I have of hanging out with my dad.

No snow here Friday is suppose to be warm and rainy, saturday and sunday toooo. So unless you are bringing a snow fall with you (please don’t, I don’t like snow), no white Christmas here.
