<description>Alright, time for the SIL and mom of 3 to weigh in with her two cents. With #1 I rented an electric Medela pump from the hospital. Hated it. It was heavy, definitely not portable, and I basically felt like a cow being milked whenever I used it.

With #2 I tried the Advent Isis manual pump. Loved it. It's small, easy to use, very portable ( I can actually get up and walk around the house while using it), and I can pump 4-5 oz in under 10 minutes just like I did with the hospital pump. And at $40-$50 it's cheap, which is really nice since I don't pump a lot. I'm currently using it now with #3, but pretty much just when I get engorged and Olivia's asleep or recently took a bottle.

<description>@S-G: Get over it! Just wait until you are b/f with a blanket over you and the kid and the kid just rips it off you two. Just hope your father-in-law isn't around then!

@Sarah: Esther likes the hospital one and she said that after using it, nursing doesn't hurt as much.

@Grace: That is a great idea. We are very familiar with Aafes and now that you have said that, I am sure my folks will be checking it out for their daughters.

<description>i got my medela pump in style from aafes.com (the military store) and it was 100 dollars cheaper than the going rate. Maybe your dad or mom can get you one from there when the time comes. I loved it and used it for a good solid 13 months and saved tons of money. Worked so well when I was working and in 20 minutes was able to pump enough for Rehema's next day supply

<description>the one major thing i wish i had done differently with Jeremiah was to get a good breast pump and get him used to the bottle earlier. i was an exclusively breastfeeding mother and was so concerned about him not nursing well that i didn't introduce the bottle until later and he would have none of it. this made it very hard for me to leave him with other people because i always had to be back in time to nurse him. as he got older it got easier but i sure did feel really tied down those first 6 months or so.
with this one it is going to be different! everyone i have talked to has recommended renting a pump from the hospital becuase they work much faster and easier (which is a must with more than one child in the house). so lets hope that works this time. this second one will need to learn to take a bottle or i will be one worn out mama!
