Changes in weather

Published by mrscrumley under a day in the life

Fuller and I have been out and about recently, mainly looking for that specific sofa that will add to our living room experience. I am exhausted and looking forward to staying in tomorrow since we are expecting some sort of “in like a lion” storm.

Can I just tell you how awesome the weather has been recently? I actually dressed Fuller in shorts yesterday and today. I wanted to wear my Chacos this morning but I am missing one of them, which means I really need to clean my bedroom.

If today hadn’t been a junk swap at Mom’s Group, Fuller and I would have walked there and back, soaking in as much sun and fresh air as possible.

Being outside has perked up all our attitudes and Fuller’s disposition lately has been kind, courteous and fun. I just hope the bad weather doesn’t affect his mood like it might mine. I plan on keeping him occupied with finger painting (he loves that) and cooking waffles. And I can’t wait for the sun to come back out. By then, I better have found my other Chaco.

Fuller is the Ultimate Sports Fan of the Day

Published by mrscrumley under blogging 'bout the boy

POTD.jpgLast week, I submitted a photo of myself as Auburn Elvis to Coke’s (and Qdoba’s) March Madness Ultimate Sport Fanatic Contest.

Well, This weekend, I also submitted a photo of Fuller. Well, today (and today only), Fuller was choosen as their photo of the day. I think that means he just won a $25 gift certificate to Qdoba.

War Eagle!

Oh, yeah, if you wanted, you could go into the “Go Head 2 Head” section and vote for our photos. It’s semi-random which ones show up, so you might have to click a bunch to get to either of our photos.

Chalkboard paint

Has anyone ever used chalkboard paint? I am wondering if it would still work if you painted over an existing chalkboard. We have a green chalkboard that Fuller is currently using. However it doesn’t take the chalk very well and there are some stains on it (we got it at a thrift store). I was thinking about painting over it in chalkboard paint but wonder if that would help or hurt.

Thoughts? Stories?

Hi Carnies!

postiecarnivalsmall.gifToday is another round of Postie Carnival and the theme is Animals, hosted by Marisa of Marisa’s Dandelion Patch.

My submission is from last month, and I still wonder when Maple and Lively are going to get with the program and enjoy Fuller’s existence. Today Damon, Fuller, and Maple tried to play ball, but Maple would only play with Damon. If Damon left, Maple would follow him, and Fuller would follow begging Maple to come back.

If you head over to the Carnival you can meet lots of other bloggers who had something to say on the topic of animals. Have fun!

Finger spell

Published by mrscrumley under blogging 'bout the boy

In case you haven’t noticed, recently we have had several pictures of Fuller doing something with his fingers. I’m not exactly sure what this is all about, but he is a tad obsessed with looking at his fingers, pointing, bending, and whatever else there is to do with them.

We have made progress on learning numbers. He can count to 10 (in a round about way), and he has started to use his fingers a little bit for that purpose, triumphantly showing me all ten of his fingers when he gets to ten.

ABCD_ASL.jpgI keep trying to show him the ASL alphabet, since he is doing really well with his letters, but he just keeps showing me his baby gang sign. It’s not like I am trying to get him to spell Phentermine or something, I just want him to know that manipulating his fingers has the ability to be more.

Yes, I forgot

Published by mrscrumley under a day in the life

I was so excited to wake up this morning with the expectation that Fuller and I will head out to some furniture stores to check out their couch offerings. I thought we could go to Ashley Furniture and then the mall to let him play in the play area for a bit.

And soon after Fuller was settled with his breakfast, I remembered that Monday is Kindermusik day! Man, I am so out of it. We didn’t have it last week due to their winter break. One week off and I forget about it!

I need some budgeting software for my time management. Or at least I should remember to check my calendar on Sundays.

Self Portrait Sunday: Family time

digicasspresents.gif We had so much fun at the UTC Mocs basketball game last night. Before going to the game we had dinner at Pizza Hut. The pizza was good, once we got it. The first pizza that was ours was boxed up and sent to a carry out order. (Insert eye roll here.)

Once we got to the game, we were seated in the upper level. But because attendance is so low at the games, during one of the time outs they invited those of us in the upper level to come down and sit in the empty seats on the lower level.

Fuller did ok as a spectator. He really wanted to run around, which leads me to believe that when we go to the tournament we will be walking around the Georgia Dome a lot.

The game wasn’t that great, but the atmosphere was fun. The band was loud and jumping, the cheeleaders were jumping and loud. Fuller got into some of the noise- yelling “ahhhhhhhhhhh” when the Mocs were on defense.

I love to people watch at the games. But it was so much fun to see my family having fun. Good times were had by all.

Growing up!

I used to drool over certain TV shows that would make over a room in 48 hours (or less!). It would all come together in such a way that it looked good (most of the time) and it was all down to the details. It wasn’t just about paint and furniture arrangements. There was art work and pictures, lighting, and baubles placed just so it all looked right.

Well, in our living room we have the paint. And it looks like soon we will have some grown up furniture to arrange next. Yes, I am going sofa shopping and then I get the pleasure of dragging Damon around town to see if he likes what I like.

We still have more to do to the room… everyone seems to think we need a clock in here. We have a clock on the stereo, but most people don’t see it. Maybe if we got some in your face grandfather clocks, then people will stop telling us we need a clock.

The madness is coming!

Published by mrscrumley under war eagle anyway

Fuller is an Auburn fan! When I was a kid we took vacations, but nothing that was a consistent family thing. We did this big one month camping trip when we lived in Arizona . When we lived in New York we drove to the Outer Banks for a family reunion. (That was the year Hurricane Bob hit the Outer Banks- it was quite the way to start the reunion.) And I can’t forget the European trips we took when we lived in Germany- New Year’s in Italy, Christmas in England. They were all so memorable.

Well, D grew up a bit differently. They didn’t take a ton of vacations because they had the lake house when they needed to get away. But there are two trips that Damon remembers from his childhood.

Playdate at CDM

Published by mrscrumley under blogging 'bout the boy

All three kidsFuller and I went on a playdate to the Creative Discovery Museum yesterday. We were invited by a mom at our church. Their family has a family plus one membership, so she shared with us!

The little girl, A, was born the same day as Fuller. We had a really fun time letting the kids play in the water and there was minimal bickering. Since A had been there several times, she knew what was up.

The museum was very crowded due to a few schools being there for field trips. One CDM employee suggested to us that we come in the afternoon, since they will be crowded like this almost everyday until fall. My friend replied that it wasn’t that big a deal and that the afternoon would interfere with nap times.

I dressed Fuller in orange thinking it would be easy to spot him if he got a ways away from me, but I was wrong. I think one of the schools asked kids to all dress in orange so that they would be easy to keep together. Fortunately no one tried to keep Fuller in their group based on my choice of clothing for him.

The kids enjoyed the water, the little yellow house, and the music area. Then Fuller started to melt down, which meant it was time to leave. He didn’t really think so, because he was ready to play in the water again, but I knew better.

I am thinking that for his third birthday we go ahead and get that membership. We had a lot of fun!
