Expansion
This picture was shot by our friend Marylu. She is documenting the work that is finally going on at our church.
I think I have mentioned before that our church is very full. Ever since I started going there, about nine years ago, there has always been at least one pregnant woman in the church. Usually, there were more than one. That means that our church is always expanding.
We went to two services over two years ago, which helped during the worship services, but when it comes to the other stuff- fellowship, Sunday School, and youth groups- we are very tight on space.
After a few years of raising money and talking to the appropriate people (architects, contractors, city personnel) construction has begun! We are getting an expanded nursery (we need it- the Sunders just had their sixth boy and the Nichols just had their fifth child) and better Sunday School rooms.
Marylu is also our church secretary and she has been sending out emails asking for boxes to pack up the various rooms. Our pastor has a lot of books (as most pastors do), and there are all the various items used in Sunday School and in the church office.
It is a lot to pack up.
This is why a site that focuses on moving advice is a really great addition to the internet. It isn’t just about how to get moving supply, but there is advice on how to organize your move, the history of boxes (the first manufactured cardboard box was made in 1817, somewhere in England) and all the box options available (we probably need a lot of the file boxes and small kits for books).
I know that moving isn’t fun (as a military brat, I have done my share of packing and unpacking), but it is necessary. Our church needs this desperately, so finding the right materials is important. And from Marylu’s last email, we need about 100 more boxes.
No one said expanding would be easy.
