Happy Birthday Tia

Published by under a day in the life

Mother and Child
Happy Birthday to Sarah-Ginny! She’s my baby sister, Fuller’s Tia, and now she is a great mommy to Genevieve.

Let’s see, I’m 31 so that makes her 26. Pretty neat. She’s in her late twenties now.

We get to see her and her little family for Christmas, so I’m very excited about that.

I am rambling now, but just because I am trying to think of an embarrassing story to tell. Something family friendly.

Well, there was the one time she did some mud wrestling with my other sister, Austina. It’s not as sexy as it sounds, guys. My parents were digging a hole for a tree and it was full of water. Dirt, water, and two little girls who wanted to play. I think they were around 6 and 8. And it probably started as something small, sticking their fingers in the mud, and then it grew to something bigger, like full body immersion.

My baby sister is very special to me. And I love being her big sister and passing along my parenting advice in the terms of “we did this, so don’t do it.” Learn from our mistakes, kid.

Happy Birthday, Sarah-Ginny!

Like I could forget

Published by under blogging 'bout the boy

I’m still working on the new layout, but for now… I have to plow away with stories about my cute kid and family type stuff because this is a blog about our family, emphasis on the cute kid stories and a dusting about house remodeling and Damon’s projects.

Anyway! One cute kid story coming up:

This morning Fuller and I were playing with his train set and somewhere in his mind “play” turned into “tell Mommy what to do and say it louder and louder until she does it.” I finally said, “You are bossy!” To which Fuller replied, “No, I Foo-er.”

It felt good to have a belly laugh before breakfast.

Missing his pack

Published by under blogging 'bout the boy

Last Tuesday I packed up the car, buckled in the kid and dogs, and sat in the car waiting for Damon to get home from work.

While we were sitting in the car, Fuller started sneezing. And when he sneezes it is a snot explosion unlike anything I have ever seen. Each sneeze produces mucho mucus and when he sneezes several times in a row… yuck.

This continued until we got to the lake. And the next morning Fuller woke up coughing and congested. D and I had to head out to Wal-Mart, so we picked him up some Triaminic Thin Strips to help with his cold symptoms.

I guess it all helped, since he was running around with his cousins with all the gusto the youngest of the pack can bring (Olivia may be the youngest, but I don’t think of her as part of the pack yet). And I think Fuller is missing the pack- he has been lolling around, not really active, coughing, sniffing, and just bleah.

I hope he kicks this soon… we have to do some fun stuff before we leave!

Home sweet home

Another holiday trip has ended and we are sitting down catching out breath after the strenuous ordeal of sitting for four plus hours.

During our entire trip Fuller has battled a mild cold, the worst symptom being his stuffy nose. This made it very difficult for him to get a good nap in the car. He slept, but it was fitful and punctuated with crying and wiping his nose. When we stopped for dinner we slathered him with some vapor rub and distracted him with a movie.

It was a good vacation and now it is time to unpack and recoup. Tomorrow we begin our mad dash to Christmas travel (we leave the 18th!), so we all need our beauty rest.

Iron Bowl madness

Published by under war eagle anyway

I joke about there being a clause in our marriage contract where I have to watch Auburn football games. And tonight is the biggest game of the season- the Iron Bowl (aka the Auburn/ Alabama game).

I can’t recall ever being with Damon’s side of the family for one of these games, but kickoff is still an hour and half away and the tension is building. As their starter course the family has been watching other games (4 over times for Tennessee?) to get even more excited. And in this house, there are at least four TVs turned to various football games throughout the day.

It makes it a tad more tense to have four people invested in one game (and two people who aren’t) and makes me less inclined to want to watch it. But Uncle Bobby could care less, so he’s going to round the kids up for a movie. And then I can watch the game next to my husband (the most level-headed fan in the house), therefore fulfilling my marriage vows.

War Eagle!
