We need a miracle

Published by under Family Health

Sleeping last night wasn’t so great because Fuller didn’t sleep well. And if there is anything that keeps me up at night, it is the possibility of my kid calling for me in the middle of the night. Of course right now he is acting perfectly fine, but it is not keeping him from his doctor’s appointment this afternoon at 12:15.

Fuller was feverish and miserable at 4 a.m. so he ended up sleeping in the living room with me. We tried to be on the couch at the same time but the kicking was getting in the way of the sleeping. So I slept on the pullout chair bed and Fuller took domain over the couch.

Damon made an appearance this morning, asking for juice and then retiring once more to the queen size luxury of our bed where he had slept in a nyquil-induced coma. I tried to have a conversation with him, but was met with one phrase, “I just need more rest.”

So here we are on the eve of my trip. I expect miracles everyday, today is no exception.

Strange developments

Published by under blogging 'bout the boy

Fuller is recently started calling Damon “Dad” and me “Mom.” And we don’t like it. So, we keep correcting him. “I’m Mommy! He’s Daddy!” It is a bit comical. And strange.

Fuller no longer wants me to give him a kiss goodnight. What the heck?

Thanks, Arby’s

Published by under over the lips

It took a commercial from Arby’s to tell me what was missing from Fuller’s diet- smoothies. He hasn’t been eating very well since being sick, and we have to get him to stay hydrated (the other day it was a challenge). Smoothies seemed like a great compromise.

What I love about smoothies is I can just throw in any kind of fruit with OK and it will probably come out ok. And if I add frozen strawberries, I can leave out ice, so it is mostly fruit. My favorite is the strawberry-banana-OJ smoothie, which is what he is currently dining on right now. I found one recipe that added honey, which is a favorite remedy for sore throats.

Any other tips on keeping kids hydrated in illness? Not that I really need it right now, but I have a feeling one day Fuller will get ill once again.

Momma called the doctor and the doctor said…

Published by under Family Health

“You think you are special?”

Ok. The doctor didn’t really say that. But all the reports flooding in are, we are not the only ones in the world with this family felling illness. And yes, the symptoms are all the same. So, while we have wallowed in our misery, aches, and pains… others were doing the same.

I’m thrilled to report Fuller and Mommy are at the end stage with rattling coughs and runny noses. Damon however is still in the full body aches, fever to the max, and congestion stage.

We will get through this. Everyone else did.

Family Solidarity

Published by under Family Health

Damon has decided to join us in the sick bed. He did pretty well keeping the congestion at bay for the first two days, but it finally broke him down last night. I can’t say we are happy to have him join us, because he was doing a stand up job keeping things going while I was down and out. He clean the kitchen, never asked when dinner would be served, and put up with the overindulgence of television for the kid.

Here’s to heavy doses of vitamin C, keeping up with our liquids, and even more television.

Bonding

Published by under Family Health

Fuller and I have been involved in some mother-son bonding this weekend- we both got sick. I call it the flu, since the symptoms were fever, acheyness, congestion, and exhaustion. Lots of sleeping was done this weekend and we might even be sleeping more tomorrow. I’m thrilled that the aches are gone so I can function a bit more, but know I need to take it easy.

I leave on Thursday for Florida, so please pray I will be 100% by then. And pray Damon doesn’t catch this, cause he is going to be going solo for six days.
