Cookie Monsters
I was given a bag of Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix to try out and my post try out report is this: awesome!
When the cookie mix was sitting on the kitchen island, Fuller immediately recognized it as something to do with cookies (possibly the picture on the packaging) and started to insist we make cookies. I was able to put him off for a few days, but eventually I gave in.
It was fun to read with Fuller the directions and then show him exactly how to do it.
I decided to let Fuller do as much as he could, including cracking an egg. It was really easy and he loved it. I had to help with the mixer, but even that was met with giggles and grins.
My previous experience with sugar cookies has always been at Christmas, making dough, refrigerating it overnight, and then rolling it and cutting bell and star shapes. I suppose we could have just made the dough and dropped it on the cookie sheets for immediate cookie success, but there is an image of rolling dough, cutting cookies, and decorating them for holiday cheer that seems to be a requirement for a happy Christmas.
Working with the Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix was simple and I could have added extra flour and rolled out the dough like my childhood memories, but Fuller wanted cookies and I decided to drop the dough right away.
Besides, I don’t think I would have achieved this particular look of happiness if we had waited and rolled the dough. (And maybe the two dozen cookies would have lasted more than two days.)
