How Hurricane Gustav Refugees Spend their Evacuation
Sunday morning our lazy Labor Day weekend was turned into a party/ family reunion when Damon’s sister and her family rolled in after a nine hour car trip escaping the New Orleans area. Fuller was thrilled to suddenly find himself surrounded by kids, as if we had planned the hurricane all along.
From what I understand, our hometown of Chattanooga is currently hosting over 200 refugees in Red Cross shelters. And I can pretty much bet heading to your parent’s lake house to watch FoxNews 24/7 while a hurricane inches toward your own hometown is immensely better than sitting in a shelter.
Not sure when they get to go back home, but for now, we are happy they are safe and sound and enjoying the last summer days at Lake Martin.
Damon and I had a grand time at the Auburn game on Saturday. We spent a lot of time on Sunday trying to recover (naps are good things) and relaxing.
Fuller and I left Lake Martin this afternoon to spend the rest of the week at my Grandma’s house in Auburn. Damon is back home in Chattanooga working/ battling a sinus thing, and will join us on Friday. We miss Damon and hope he gets well soon.
