Gotta fly
I have no idea what planted this in Fuller’s little brain, but he was convinced we were going to the park today. I do not recall ever telling him we would be going, but he kept insisting. So, we did.
We have had a lot of rain in the past days, almost 4 inches on Tuesday. Going to the park was more a visit to the mud puddles. Fuller thought it would be fun to spend time throwing stuff into the “pond” under the tire swing. Then he started climbing on the tires (our park has plenty) and jumping off. I caught a few pictures of him, which he demanded to see on the LCD screen, and I told him it looked like he was flying.
This resulted in well over 50 pictures of Fuller jumping off tires. After every series, he would run over and want to see the back of my camera and asking if he was flying.
I was so happy to be able to get Fuller out of the house and running around in the fresh air. He didn’t even mind that there were no other kids at the park, he just jumped around, did some sliding, and even attempted to use the zipline on his own (which is how he ended his outing- falling into the mud and getting rather dirty).
These last few weeks of Fuller’s only child status are becoming a bit more poignant to me. I catch myself trying to cuddle more with him and pretty much playing any board game he asks me to play with him.
I have also been trying to amp up his independent skills. This morning I taught him how to toast his own waffles, including spreading the peanut butter with the back of a spoon. Yesterday I taught him our address, which amazingly he was able to tell me perfectly this morning. I have been “using” Fuller as an errand boy lately, trying to tap into how much help he will be after the baby arrives. (Fuller funny: I asked Fuller to go get me the phone and his first reply was “But it’s not ringing!”)
I know our lives will change drastically when Baby Two makes his arrival next month and while we all have our things to do to get ready, we are definitely enjoying our last days of being just the three of us.

I just know that I’m going to be like this…wanting to cuddle my little guy more, if we have another one in the future. I think we will, but not right away.
Love the photos! I have a blast shooting photos of Jonathan and I know there will be a day when he wants to see all the photos!
