Fuller’s view
If you know me personally, you have probably seen my camera. It is in my bag, by my side, or in front of my face. I have to admit, Fuller was my inspiration to become interested in digital photography. We have such a great subject to photograph!
Since he has grown up in front of the camera, it is expected he would be interested in the camera itself. In the past we have let him use an old camera of ours, finding it interesting to see his perspective frozen in megapixels. That camera bit the dust, and we kind of longed to get Fuller a camera of his own.
We were against getting him one of those “kid” cameras for pretty much the same reason John Watson was:
The bigger problem with the Fisher Price camera and all other “made for kids” cameras is that the actual camera is utter crap (”made for kids” really means “made for landfill”). 640×480 resolution interpolated to 1.3 megapixels gives you images that look vomited rather than photographed.
I also disliked how you couldn’t add extra memory to the kid cameras, allowing Fuller to fill up a kid camera in minutes and then not being able to take pictures until we helped him.
I had another reason for wanting to get Fuller a camera now… his baby brother. My friend Karen gave her camera to one of her daughters after her fourth baby was born and the pictures Jane came up with were precious. How sweet to see her new sibling through her eyes! And I figured Fuller would enjoy taking pictures of Baby Two just like we will enjoy doing the same with our Nikon.
Cost was a factor, I didn’t have a ton of money in my paypal account, so I turned to ebay to see what I could find used. I was thrilled to win an auction for $38 on a refurbished Kodak Easyshare C615 for $38 (that’s with shipping). Coincidentally, it is the same one John Watson got his daughter, but I didn’t go out shopping insisting I get the same one. It just happened that way!
Guess what the mailman brought today?
I’ve already created Fuller’s flickr set, so you can see the world through his eyes (I didn’t bother uploading the ones where his fingers blocked the lens). Enjoy!

That’s really cool, Alli! Now I want one for Luke.

Funny how you ended up with the same camera. How’s he liking it? My daughter is coming up on a full year of using that camera and still going strong.
Johns last blog post..The Genius of Photography
@John,
Fuller loves the camera and taking pictures. He thinks of it as a game to take a picture and try to get the hand to show up green (which indicates he was still to take the picture). But at the same time, he is developing a liking for spinning and taking pictures while spinning.
