5 weeks and counting

Tebow Sleeping

This picture is evidence that Tebow sleeps. He does great during the day, and when he sleeps at night, it tends to be bookended with a cryfest. Last night however, we didn’t have any of that. And it made for a good night and a good day. (The jury is still out on tonight.)

Tebow had his first month check up today and the stats are in: 23 inches long (he was 22 when he was born) and 11 pounds, 14 ounces (he was 8 pounds 11 ounces at birth). Everything with Tebow was good, making me feel like one proud Momma.

This afternoon Fuller and I had some quality time playing with Tebow, marveling in his latest skill of just watching you. You have to get in close, but he will lock in on your face and follow you a little bit. I know it seems mundane, but it was a good twenty minutes of fun for Fuller and me. When you add in his smiles and laughing when tickled, I just found myself in a happy place, glad Tebow is a part of our family.

Good days and bad days

Published by under Uncategorized

In case you are wondering if we are all trapped under a pile of diapers (dirty or clean- your choice), the answer is no. What we are trapped under is the belief that we really haven’t figured out this two kids, two parents lifestyle we have found ourselves in.

Tebow is growing and plowing away on his life skills training. At this point, I would give him a “Good, but could be better” in eating and a request that he repeat Sleeping 101. He has had a few bad days and really, really awful nights, but I can’t complain too much because right now he is asleep and for the past two days he hasn’t been doing much of that during the hours of 2 p.m. and midnight. Monday was a really bad day. Tuesday, it was ok until the evening. Today, it is better.

Fuller starts out the day as the doting big brother, but by the end of the day he is definitely craving for the good old days when it was just him doing the cute things. He has grabbed on to the phrases “good day” and “bad day.” Monday, we had a bad day. Tuesday, it was better. And today, it was good.

We have two weeks until we travel again, so right now, we just have to focus on what makes us all tick and tock together as a family (Tebow- food and sleep; Fuller- attention and food; Damon- food and sleep; me- sleep and sleep). Next week we might get back into a light homeschool routine, if I can plan appropriately. And then maybe, we will have more good than bad days.

Coming down from the high

Whenever we travel, have a really good time, and are in recovery from a long car ride, there tends to be a decompression that occurs in the days after we return home. The house immediately looks like a war zone, Fuller gets a bit testy from lack of attention, and I feel like I’m in a funhouse trying to find the exit and return our lives to normal.

We got home last night and I knew today would be rough. I figured Tebow would be wrapped up discontent and Fuller would be demanding and uncooperative. And I was pretty much right on the money.

Now it is time to debrief by uploading pictures to flickr and putting words to the memories we want to keep from the trip. But first, I have to take advantage of the fact that Tebow is finally asleep.

Tebow’s Birth Annou(n)cement

We recently completed and mailed out Tebow’s birth announcements. Here’s an image of the front and back of the printed announcement.

Tebow's Birth Announcement

We’ve gotten pretty favorable responses from friends and family. The most asked question is, “Did you get this idea from an existing one?” The answer is “no.” I’m proud to say that I came up with this one late at night all by myself. I used a few actual football tickets as a reference, but the idea and general composition are all mine.

We’re very happy with the way it looks, except for the misspelling at the bottom. Apparently, most spell-checkers automatically skip words in all-caps. Otherwise, it’s an awesome birth announcement that really fits with the theme of Tebow’s name.

Road Trip

Published by under choose your own adventure

This morning we spent waaaaaay too long packing and soon after lunch we were on the road, heading to Alabama.

We are a family who likes to travel. I was nervous about how Tebow would assimilate to this part of being a member of our family. And like a good boy, he did really well.

Fuller learned part of his big brother duties include feeding Tebow his bottle and reinserting the paci when needed.

Tomorrow we all pile in Grandpa Albert’s car and head to Florida. Our family tradition of going to the SEC tournament is taking us on a family adventure to Tampa. Hopefully Tebow will keep up with being a good traveler.
