Watch the Today Show! You might see me!

Tebow on camera

In case you don’t read my personal blog, I should announce here that today (March 9th), the Today Show is kicking off a series on digital moms. And I’m one of them!

Last Monday a really nice cameraman showed up at the house, set up some lights, moved some furniture, and interviewed me about being a digital mom. Then he shot some B roll footage of me playing a game with Fuller and some footage of me on the computer with Tebow in my lap (like right now). The segment will air sometime during this morning’s broadcast.

The series (which I think is just a Monday and Tuesday thing) features some other great moms as well- Heather Armstrong, Wendy Piersall of Sparkplugging, Shannon the Coupon Princess, Melissa from Consumer Queen, and Lisa from Crazy Adventures in Parenting.

Hope you can watch!

If he builds it…

Home Depot Kid Build

Damon took Fuller to Home Depot today for a kid’s build workshop. Fuller had a blast and didn’t take his apron off until right before his bath.

Blogging Tapas: Two week edition

Published by under blogging 'bout the boy

Tebow is watching you

Today marks two weeks since Tebow joined our family. I think it is safe to say I have spent the most time with him so far and am pretty qualified to give the follow observations…

Tebow sleeps pretty solidly. This is much better than Fuller, who didn’t nap well until we (gasp!) turned him over on his belly to sleep. Tebow sleeps fine on his back, usually for two to three hours. He also sleeps ok on his belly, but I prefer the “I don’t have to lie to the pediatrician” option.

I think once Tebow becomes a more efficient eater, things will be better at night. As it is right now, he takes such a long time, I have been known to fall asleep while holding him.

Tebow had his first bath today and after a hair scrub I can definitely tell he is a red head. The top of his head gets kind of greasy and starts to look brown, but when it is clean, he has that ginger glow. Also, his hair is softer than Fuller’s was and has a little bit of a wave to it. I don’t see buzz cuts in his future.

Two weeks

He has more awake time now, usually just in the mornings, though sometimes he likes to party at midnight or so. Today he just sat in his swing looking around and being pretty content. After about thirty minutes, he decided it was nap time and drifted off.

Everyday I’m a bit shock how much he isn’t into the pacifier. He will take it, but it isn’t like he has to have it to survive. Damon thinks Tebow will come around to it, but I don’t know. He already knows how to suck his thumb, but he isn’t constantly doing that either.

I know for sure my kid is smiling. And today, while he was napping, it seemed like he let out little chuckle.

Tebow is an excellent addition to our family.

Question of the day: How’s Fuller?

Published by under blogging 'bout the boy

Fuller fun

As the days go by and more people inquire about our lives with the new kid, we often hear the question, “How is Fuller doing?”

My standard answer is he is doing well, though sometimes he seems a bit lost. I’ve been trying to compensate and give him the attention he needs, but it isn’t always possible especially when I’m feeding Tebow or trying to get Tebow to go to sleep. Fuller gets a bit more frustrated when his needs aren’t immediately met and sometimes he gets mad/ sad/ pouty when needs aren’t met that he has been taking care of himself for quite some time.

He does have his happy moments though. He was sitting in front of Tebow’s swing this morning, making faces and talking to his brother. Tonight he tried to give Tebow his paci. Fuller will usually help me out by fetching my water bottle or one of the baby blankets, making him feel useful and involved in some way.

Tonight I suppose he really was tired of sharing me and asked to cuddle with me and Tebow after the bedtime story was read. Once Tebow was asleep, I put him down so just Fuller and I could cuddle for a while. Next thing I knew, Fuller was asleep in my lap.

As time goes by and we work out our routines and adjust to the ever changing needs of an infant, I’m sure Fuller will be the beaming older brother. Until then, I’ll make sure we cuddle more often.
