Tebow wows the Type A Mom crowd
Tebow and I are back from the Type A Mom Conference in Asheville, North Carolina. It was a really good trip for me, and I think for the most part it was fun for Tebow.
I have been pouring over other Type A Mom pictures on flickr and there are more pictures of Tebow than of me in other people’s streams, so I think he was a big hit.
One of the things that made me decide to go to the Type A Mom conference was the fact that they had child care for $35. It was called Kidcon and it was an amazing part of the weekend. I was able to drop Tebow off with licensed, caring people who were totally comfortable with dealing with his teething and quirky fussy times. On Friday he was particularly fussy with some congestion (either allergies or teething) so a worker wore him in a baby carrier so he would nap.
Mable’s Labels made up label kits for each registered child, so I was able to label all of Tebow’s bottles and what not that we took to Kidcon each morning (though I forgot to label the wipe container, but it was found easily). There were cribs for him to nap in plus Scandinavian Child donated changing tables, high chairs, and bouncers. Earth’s Best not only was having a feeding contest, but they donated baby food for kids who were on solids. There were plenty of toys from sponsors (thank you Sprig and Lamaze!), and Type A Mom partnered with local folks to come in and have a dance party on Saturday morning.
If Fuller was in the older crowd he would have seen an iRobot presentation (not about vaccums but instead about rocking robots!) or checked out some films. Instead Fuller was in Auburn enjoying his time with Damon.
I will admit to having a bit of separation anxiety on Friday when I was away from the hotel at a dinner. I actually broke down crying because I had missed Tebow and knew he was having a fussy day. The other moms I was with totally understood and let me cry it out. They offered advice and just a nice ear to listen to me.
In the time he wasn’t at Kidcon, he was busy crawling around the hotel room and making friends with Baby Dude, my roommate’s youngest (who turned one today!). And he was trying to discover the joys of dangerous lamps and their electrical plugs.
This particular lamp was blocked by the pack ‘n play, but the other one by the TV was particularly interesting to Tebow. Creative blocking with a trashcan and the stroller helped.
Tebow slept well at night, only waking once each night, which made me so happy. I was asking people to pray for Tebow to suddenly start sleeping through the night because just two weeks before he was screaming his way to midnight each night and I knew a roommate and her son probably would enjoy the conference less if they had to listen to that. But Tebow did well in that area, so I consider the trip a success!
I told several people I would not have gone to the conference if there hadn’t been childcare. I think Type A Mom went above and beyond to make sure our kids were cared for and given an excellent experience of their own. Thanks to Kelby and all her hard work to make it happen. Tebow had a blast.

Oh you totally weren’t the only one worrying about their baby – Micah came to one of the breakfasts with me because he just wasn’t ready to leave me yet that morning. I tried – and ended up out in the hall having a panic attack listening to him cry for about 30 seconds before I couldn’t take it anymore. Lol!
For the most part, the rest of the times went really well and I was SUPER impressed with the quality of the people they had running the Kids Con. Lovely sessions – did you see the video about the drumming session they did? SO cute.
I’m glad you were able to go and take Tebow. What is a typeamom? Don’t ever be sorry for crying, that is normal for Moms. Wait till you have grandchildren. That’s why God gave us tears. You are a wonderful Mom.
God Bless all of you,
Aunt Nita
Aunt Juanita´s last blog ..I MADE IT THROUGH FRIDAY
Glad it all worked out. I was disappointed that Damon and Fuller decided to go home after the game but I fully understand. Nice memories.
Grandma,
I was totally surprised when a few hours after I went to bed I woke up to Damon getting into bed! It was a good thing they came home early because Damon ended up with an ear infection. We were able to get to the Minute Clinic soon after returning the rental car so he could get started on antibiotics right away. I look forward to seeing you on the 16th.
Aunt Nita,
Type A Mom is a community of mom bloggers who met at a conference to learn from each other, teach each other, and have fun with each other away from the computer screens! It was a blast and I hope they have it again.
Angela,
Glad I wasn’t the only one having separation issues! I haven’t seen a drumming video, I will have to search that one out!
I did manage to get a picture of you hugging your mom after your announcement the panel I saw you in. http://www.flickr.com/photos/crumleydotorg/3955388593/in/set-72157622459512876/ Congratulations!
Oh no, I had no idea he was into our cords in the room, especially considering how I had to search for outlets on my side (remember I was moving the mattresses? LOL)
He is so cute, honey. I did see lots of pictures of you, too
It was great to meet you. I can’t believe baby dude is one. Where does the time go?
I also really regret not going on the photowalk
I would’ve LOVED to explore Asheville more :/

He struggled with the cords mostly on the first day before you got there. I turned around and he had sped across the room and pulled the cord out of the wall. I got to him before it made it to his mouth.
The photowalk was fun and Asheville is really beautiful. Seeing the drum circle before the dinner was exciting as well. Maybe Type A Mom will be back in Asheville next year?
Thanks for being my roomie! It really took stress off me.
Type A Mom was a tremendous experience for us. We met so many wonderful people and saw what a fantastic community exists within the blogging world. There exists so much diversity, but yet, we found the people so able to value those differences.
We appreciate Kelby giving us the opprtunity to be part of this.
