See that? I have a feeling I’m going to be chasing this guy for quite some time.
Tebow is not interested in being fenced in. He can be content in the space for a while, but when he realizes there is grass on the other side and it just might be greener, he wants to keep going.
For a while, we would place him in his “cage,” a kind of playpen created by a puppy corral we had from Fuller’s babyhood. When Tebow started crawling, the space was considered too small and much crying and wailing could be heard from the second son. So, in order to give him room, the cage was stretched into a fence and we blocked off key exit points from the living room.
For a while we had plastic bins wedged in the archway between the living room and dining room (a space too big for a baby gate, unless we spent some $$$). As Tebow began to pull up and learn about leverage (probably from the episodes of Sid the Science Kid Fuller watches), he figured out how to push his way through the barriers. It was kind of like watching a football player barrel his way through defenders while protecting the ball (you know, like his namesake). As soon as Tebow made it past the bins, he was crawling into dangerous territory.
When we went to Lake Martin a few weekends ago, he had the most room he has ever had to move about. He had the dining room, living room, sun room, and part of the kitchen. And even though it was a ton of room to explore, he would still seek out the exit points and try to make his escape. Doors were pushed on, pulled up on, and drooled on.
We have since blocked off the living room in a suitable way and Tebow is usually pretty happy. We had to move the diapers outside the perimeter, and he knows this. So when he is fussy and hanging out by the barrier between the living room and dining room (currently a 1 by 8 we had to jack up 2 inches on a few toy blocks), chances are he is wanting his diaper changed.
I know once he is given freedom to move and roam, he is going to be the one we are chasing and looking for in all kinds of nooks and crannies. Heaven help us.
