Change in weather, change in needs

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Carmex®. All opinions are 100% mine.

It happens every fall. The leaves dry up and fall off. The cooler temps force us to turn on the heat, and suddenly like, the leaves, our skin dries up. The leaves changing colors and falling off the trees are pretty… the dry skin, not so much.

In our family, this means stocking up on lotions and remembering to apply it after baths and showers. If I forget, I find myself scratching my skin raw. The other day Fuller and I were walking back from a friend’s house and he stopped every five steps to scratch his leg. My poor kiddo suffers from the dry skin too.

Which leads me to why this post is sponsored by Carmex. I was sent samples of the new line of Carmex® Healing Lotion and Carmex® Healing Cream.  As someone who suffers from the dry skin torture that comes along with the changing season, I was happy to open the package and try it out.

First, I will let you know my usual go-to lotion is Gold Bond or the generic equivalent. I love how that stuff relieves what ails me, but it has a serious drawback in that it leaves me cold (I assume from the medication in the lotion) and it kind of stinks. Not something you really want in the winter. Also, I never put it on Fuller because of the cold feeling it left.

Here is the skinny: After trying the provided samples, I’m willing to replace my Gold Bond (or generic equivalent) with Carmex Healing Lotion. It definitely relieves the itchiness, it feels good (no cold feeling!), it doesn’t smell medicine-y (my spell check doesn’t think that is a word, but it totally is), and I don’t feel like my skin is dry again hours later. Also, I think it will be a good way to help Fuller’s skin too. (Fuller hasn’t tried it yet because I kept it to myself. I guess now I have to share.)

The Carmex Healing cream was used on my driest, roughest skin (as the packaging suggest)- my feet. And I have to say I was happy with the results. My feet still need attention via pedicure (just because I love them so much), but I am sure with regular use of the healing cream, my feet won’t be cracked and um, gross. I haven’t used the cream long enough to verify that statement, but I have high hopes.

If you want to try out the Carmex® Healing Lotion and Carmex® Healing Cream line, then you can find it at Walgreens or drugstore.com for $5.99 each. The packaging has the signature red and white Carmex logo (BTW I love their lip blams) and flip top lids for easy squeezing (much better than a pump, in my opinion).
